Hubbell Showcases New Headquarters

GREENVILLE, SC — Hubbell Lighting showed off its new home in July, a home that features just about every product Hubbell Lighting and its various subsidiaries offers and one that grabs the eye of drivers passing by on I-85 — whether during the day or at night.

The new 185,000-square-foot building in Greenville, S.C., contains four stories on 20 acres and Hubbell Lighting's 16 brands. And because Hubbell is a lighting company, the new structure features more than 4,000 lighting fixtures and nearly 200 different types of lighting designs.

"Our new headquarters maximizes natural daylight and views of the surrounding areas, along with a world-class lighting design that doesn't sacrifice energy efficiency," said Scott Muse, group vice president, Hubbell Lighting.

Muse noted the new building achieved LEED Silver Certification. Its highlights include an environmentally responsible building, more energy efficient, reduced operating cost, improved building performance and enhanced occupant comfort.

The first floor is the home of Hubbell's 25,000-square-foot Lighting Solutions Center, which includes the 3,000-square-foot Lighting Solutions Lab, training rooms, an amphitheater that has webcasting capabilities and complete dining facilities. Individual training rooms can be transformed each day to reflect specific light fixtures and illumination sources that can support educational programs.

NJATC Publishes First Photovoltaic Textbook

BETHESDA, MD — The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry (NJATC) announced the publication of a groundbreaking work, Photovoltaic Systems — the first comprehensive guide to the installation of commercial and residential solar energy systems.

"Renewable resources such as solar power have become increasingly important, but no authoritative reference to the design, installation and evaluation of photovoltaic (PV) systems existed within the industry. This work is not just the first but the only textbook currently available in the field," says Todd Stafford, senior director of instrumentation, alternative energy and International Training Center for NJATC.
