This year's INNOVATION Awards judges had an enormous task on their hands. With over 120 products among 15 product categories, the entries represented some of the most innovative and creative products designed to meet the needs of the electrical contracting industry. Entries were judged not against one another, but how well they met six criteria: Innovativeness, Cost Effectiveness, Ease of Use, Maintainability, Productivity and Quality Contribution.
Our volunteer judges, spread out across the nation, worked very hard evaluating the product categories this year. Entries were divided up among the 14 judges and each received a packet of over three dozen entries to review. Responses from judges found the process to be an interesting experience and many looked forward to contributing their knowledge in the future. For their efforts this year, each judge was presented with a "Certificate of Appreciation" plaque.
The INNOVATION Awards Ceremony, held after the first day of the NECA Show in Boston, MA, was certainly well attended; as more than 80 manufacturer representatives anxiously waited to hear if their product had won. While this was the second year of the INNOVATION Awards, the event was new to many of us - in fact, this was the first year we held the event at the NECA show (Hurricane Katrina caused the cancellation of our original location for the 2005 ceremony, later held at the IEC Convention in Baltimore). This year, ECP group publisher Susan Whitehurst and editor John Filippelli presented the award winners with crystal trophies at the ceremony. On the following five pages, Electrical Contracting Products showcases the winners of the 2006 INNOVATION Awards.
