In a statement Friday, Peterson said the committee is "stronger than ever" and represents a broader spectrum of green building expertise.
But other details were not clear Monday, such as the extent to which the new committee plans to rewrite the standard, which was far along in its development and had, at one time, called for a baseline 30 percent improvement in building energy usage. And ASHRAE did not provide an updated timeline for the publication of the standard.
Earlier this month, ASHRAE initiated the launch of a working group to advise the U.S. Department of Energy on the Net-Zero Commercial Building Initiative. Other members of the group include USGBC, IESNA, American Institute of Architects (AIA), Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), International Code Council (ICC), National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).
